North Malé Zone: Sangeli secured their place in the Resort League quarter-finals after defeating Helengeli 3–2 in a thrilling Group C encounter, recording their second consecutive victory.

Sangeli entered the match after a dominant 7–1 win over Ailafushi in their opening game, while Helengeli had drawn 2–2 against Joy Island.

Sangeli took the lead in the 14th minute when Hussain Azmathu found the net following an assist from Mail Mohamed. Sangeli maintained their 1–0 advantage until half-time.

Helengeli came back strongly after the break, with Ali Saafee scoring the equaliser in the 27th minute.

However, Sangeli regained the lead just two minutes later when Saafee unfortunately put the ball into his own net.

Helengeli responded again three minutes later as Laamiu Ahmed Majeed scored their second equaliser to make it 2–2.

With the match heading towards a draw, Mohamed Shaufaan scored the decisive goal in the 35th minute to hand Sangeli a 3–2 victory. Abdulla Zameen provided the assist for the winning goal.

Abdulla Zameen of Sangeli was named Player of the Match.

The victory gives Sangeli six points from two matches, securing their place in the quarter-finals. Helengeli remain third in Group C with one point from two games.

The Resort League 2026, hosted by Bandos Maldives, is being held from 11 to 28 September 2026, with 15 teams competing across four groups. The top two teams from Groups A, B and C qualify for the knockout stage, with group winners advancing directly to the quarter-finals. In Group D, the second- and third-placed teams will contest a playoff for the remaining quarter-final spot.
