The Maldives Pension Administration Office (Pension Office) has announced that this year’s National Grandparents’ Day will be celebrated in Baa Atoll Eydhafushi.

Scheduled for September 1 to 2, the events are being organized in collaboration with the Eydhafushi Island Council, the Local Government Authority (LGA), and the Ministry of Health.

Event Details

• September 1 (Tuesday): Event kick off with an evening tea dedicated to senior citizens, providing an opportunity for grandparents to socialise and strengthen community ties. During the gathering, the Pension Office and the Ministry of Health will host an information session tailored for grandparents and their families.
• September 2 (Wednesday): A joint family festival organized by the Pension Office and island institutions will take place. Featuring games and recreational activities for all age groups, the afternoon aims to bring together children, parents, and grandparents for inclusive family time.

The primary objective of the celebrations is to honor the contributions of grandparents to nation-building and society while deepening intergenerational connections across the community.
