The Privatization & Corporatization Board (PCB) has announced the appointment of Brigadier General (Rt) Farhath Shaheer as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO).
Brigadier General (Rt) Farhath Shaheer previously served as the CEO of IGM Hospital during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
His appointment follows the dismissal of Dr. Vitaliy Lyubimov, who was relieved of his duties as CEO and MD of MIFCO Yesterday.
In the current administration, Ahmed Shamah Rasheed was initially appointed as MIFCO’s CEO and MD, but he was dismissed in May 2024 amid corruption allegations. The position remained vacant afterward, and the government had advertised for a foreign CEO before ultimately appointing Farhath Shaheer.
