Ahmed Shurau
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu officially inaugurated the Judicial Year 2025 tonight in a ceremony held at the Islamic Centre. The annual event serves as a platform to reflect on the achievements of the judiciary, set goals for the upcoming year, and facilitate interaction among judges and judicial sector employees.
During the ceremony, the judiciary formally recognised a long-serving judge upon honourable retirement from service. Chief Justice Uz Ahmed Muthasim Adnan delivered the Judicial Statement, outlining key judicial priorities for the year ahead.
For the past eight years, special events have been held to mark the inauguration of the Judicial Year, with the exception of 2021. In continuation of this tradition, the national-level Judicial Symposium will also be conducted this year. The 2025 symposium will focus on Islamic financing and reconciling judicial and administrative practices in courts, aiming to enhance the effectiveness of the judiciary.
The Judicial Year inauguration reaffirms the Maldives’ commitment to strengthening the justice system and upholding rule of law through continued dialogue and judicial advancements.
