President Dr. Muizzu Highlights Digitalisation as Key to Maldives’ Future

At the “Summit of the Future Side Event: A Vision for an Intelligence-Driven Future for Maldives” on Monday, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu emphasized that digitalisation is central to the Maldives’ national vision. In his speech, the President underscored the transformative impact of digital technology on the nation, highlighting its role in managing resources and improving public services.

President Muizzu spoke about how digitalisation is not just an economic asset but a means to enhance the quality of life for Maldivians. He stressed the importance of digital literacy, noting that initiatives like the Digital Maldives Program are equipping youth with skills essential for the digital economy and ensuring women have equal access to these opportunities.

The President also pointed out the significant role of digitalisation in addressing environmental challenges. He mentioned that smart technologies and early warning systems are crucial for building a sustainable and resilient future for the Maldives.

Acknowledging the opportunities and challenges of the digital age, President Muizzu called for global cooperation to tackle complexities. He cited the establishment of the Maldives Development Bank as a strategic move to finance projects supporting digital innovation, sustainability, and development.

Concluding his speech, President Muizzu affirmed that despite its size, the Maldives has ambitious goals. He expressed confidence that these goals would be achieved through the determination of the Maldivian people and international support, with success measured by the improvement in lives rather than just technological advancements.
