Joy Island climbed to the top of Resort League 2026 North Male Zone Group C after a convincing 5–0 victory over Ailafushi.

Joy Island controlled the match from the start, taking a 3–0 lead into half-time before adding two more goals after the break to complete a comfortable victory.

Ibrahim Layan led the scoring with a brace, while Ahmed Samveel Abdulla, Ahmed Shifan and Ali Hassan each scored once for Joy Island.

Despite the heavy defeat, Ailafushi were unable to find a response as Joy Island maintained control throughout the match.

Hussain Shafee of Joy Island was named Player of the Match for his performance.

Joy Island had drawn 2–2 with Helengeli in their opening Group C match, while Ailafushi suffered a 7–1 defeat to Sangeli in their first game.

Following the result, Joy Island moved to top of Group C with four points from two matches. Ailafushi remain at the bottom with zero points after two consecutive defeats.

The Resort League 2026, hosted by Bandos Maldives, is being held from 11 to 28 September, with 15 teams competing across four groups. The top two teams from Groups A, B and C will advance, while group winners will progress directly to the quarter-finals. In Group D, the second- and third-placed teams will play a playoff for the remaining quarter-final spot.
