Olhuveli were crowned Resort League 2026 South Malé Zone champions after defeating Hard Rock on penalties following an entertaining 2-2 draw in the final.
The final began with both sides unable to break the deadlock, with the score remaining 0-0 at halftime.
Hard Rock came out strongly after the break and took the lead just one minute into the second half when Hassan Suhail inadvertently turned the ball into his own net to give Hard Rock a 1-0 advantage.
Hard Rock doubled their lead just three minutes later, with Mohamed Thashmeen finding the back of the net to put his side 2-0 ahead.
Olhuveli, however, quickly responded. Ali Shiau scored their first goal to reduce the deficit to 2-1, giving the defending side renewed hope of completing a comeback.
The momentum shifted further in Olhuveli's favour five minutes later when Hard Rock's Mohamed Adam was shown a direct red card, leaving his team with 4 players.
Just one minute after the dismissal, Abdulla Sinaan completed Olhuveli's comeback by scoring the equaliser to make it 2-2.
Neither side could find a winner before the final whistle, sending the championship final to a penalty shootout.
Olhuveli held their nerve from the spot, winning the shootout 5-4 to secure the Resort League 2026 South Malé Zone championship in dramatic fashion.
The victory capped a remarkable comeback for Olhuveli, who recovered from two goals down and overcame the additional challenge of playing against a Hard Rock side that had initially taken firm control of the final.
