Maadhoo delivered a sensational second-half display to beat Velassaru 8–2 in the first quarter-final of the Resort League 2026 South Malé Zone.

The match was evenly contested in the opening half, with Maadhoo taking a narrow 2–1 lead into the break.

Maadhoo came out firing after the restart, scoring six goals in a dominant second-half performance. Velassaru managed just one goal after the break as Maadhoo completed an emphatic 8–2 victory.

Ali Maidh Waheed, Mohamed Azzaam and Mohamed Musaf Ibrahim each scored twice for Maadhoo, while Naaish Adam and Ismail Madheeh added one goal each.

Velassaru's two goals were scored by Shaibaan Areef and Ali Imran Mohamed.

Mohamed Azzaam was named Player of the Match following an impressive individual performance.

The commanding victory sends Maadhoo into the semi-finals, keeping their hopes of winning the Resort League South Malé Zone title alive.
