Anantara secured a crucial 4–2 victory over SO/Maldives in the Resort League South Malé Zone, finishing second in Group D and booking a place in the playoff round.
Anantara took the lead in the 11th minute when an own goal by Ibrahim Visham put them ahead.
SO/Maldives fought back and found the equaliser in first-half stoppage time, with Ismail Waheed scoring to send the teams into the break level at 1–1.
Anantara regained the lead just four minutes into the second half, with Hassan Lawh finding the net.
SO/Maldives once again responded, and Ismail Waheed scored his second goal five minutes later to make it 2–2.
The match then turned decisively in Anantara's favour. Lawh scored his second goal in the 37th minute before completing his hat-trick just three minutes later to seal a 4–2 victory.
Lawh's outstanding performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
The result moves Anantara into second place in Group D with three points from two matches, while SO/Maldives remain at the bottom of the group.
Anantara will now face Rah Gili, who finished third in Group C, in a playoff for a place in the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, SO/Maldives will take on Maadhoo, the Group C runners-up, with the winners advancing to the quarter-finals.
The knockout race now moves into the playoff stage, with both teams needing a victory to keep their championship hopes alive.
