Barcelo Nasandhura Male Set to Open as Maldives’ Largest Hotel in Early 2025

The Barcelo Nasandhura Male, a landmark development in the Maldives' capital, is scheduled to open its doors in the first quarter of 2025. Positioned on the historic site of the former Nasandhura Palace Hotel, this new property will become the largest hotel in Male, offering a unique combination of luxury and convenience.

Operated by the prestigious Spanish hotel chain Barcelo Group, the hotel will feature 136 elegantly designed rooms, including 95 with breathtaking ocean views. In addition, the property boasts 116 serviced apartments, catering to both short-term guests and those seeking extended stays. The project reflects Barcelo Group's growing footprint in the Maldives, following the opening of its Barcelo Whale Lagoon Maldives in South Ari Atoll in August 2024.

The new hotel will bring a wealth of world-class facilities to the heart of Male. Guests can look forward to four upscale dining outlets, a rooftop shisha bar, an oceanfront pool, a modern gym, and a luxurious spa. With 1,034 square meters of meeting and event space, Barcelo Nasandhura Male also aims to become the city’s premier destination for corporate events and gatherings.

Originally scheduled for a December 2024 opening, the launch has been delayed to early 2025 due to minor construction work. However, the management has assured that the property will be ready to deliver a seamless and exceptional experience for its first guests.

Barcelo Nasandhura Male also marks a shift in accommodation offerings in the capital. While some serviced apartments were initially intended for residential use, they will now be available as part of the hotel’s daily rental inventory, providing more flexibility and options for visitors.
