The Minister of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, has strongly condemned threats made by terrorist militias in Yemen against Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Madinah Al-Munawwarah and other parts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, expressing his full solidarity with the Kingdom, its leadership and its people.
In his statement, Minister Dr. Shaheem prayed to Almighty Allah to protect the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, preserve its security and stability, and safeguard Makkah, Madinah and the sacred lands of the Two Holy Mosques from all harm.
Highlighting the sanctity of the holy places in Islam, the Minister cited the words of Almighty Allah:
“Whoever honours the sacred symbols of Allah, it is certainly out of the piety of the heart.”[Surah Al-Hajj: 32]
He also cited the verse:
“Whoever intends to deviate by wrongdoing in it, We will cause them to taste a painful punishment.”[Surah Al-Hajj: 25]
Minister Dr. Shaheem stated that it is deeply concerning that such threats against the holiest places in Islam should come from groups that claim affiliation with Islam. He noted that even during the pre-Islamic era, the sanctity of the Sacred House was recognized and its inviolability respected.
The Minister emphasized that Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Madinah Al-Munawwarah are not places to be threatened or subjected to acts of aggression. Rather, they are among the greatest sanctities of Islam and hold a profound place in the hearts of Muslims throughout the world.
Minister Dr. Shaheem reaffirmed his solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and prayed that Almighty Allah continue to protect the land of the Two Holy Mosques, preserve its security and stability, repel the schemes of aggressors, and safeguard the Muslim Ummah from discord, trials and all forms of evil.
