SAARC Secretary General pays a courtesy call on President

The Secretary-General of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), His Excellency Golam Sarwar, has visited President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu at the President's Office for a courtesy call.
During the meeting, Secretary-General Sarwar expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to discuss SAARC's ongoing initiatives and programs designed to benefit its member countries. He highlighted the Maldives’ longstanding commitment to SAARC and its role in advancing the organization’s goals since its establishment.
President Dr. Muizzu affirmed the Maldives' Government's strong support for SAARC and commended Secretary-General Sarwar for his effective leadership. He reiterated the Maldives' dedication to strengthening regional cooperation and expressed optimism about enhancing trade relations within the region.
The discussion also underscored the Maldives' significant contributions to SAARC since its inception in 1985, with the Maldives being one of the founding members of the organization. The SAARC Charter was formally signed in Dhaka on December 8, 1985, marking the beginning of a collaborative effort to foster regional development and cooperation.
The meeting reaffirmed the Maldives' commitment to SAARC's objectives and highlighted ongoing efforts to deepen regional integration and economic collaboration.
