The R. Ungoofaaru Reclamation and Shore Protection Project is making significant progress, with 64% of the work now completed. Currently, revetment profiling work is ongoing as part of the project’s scope.

This project, which initially involved the reclamation of 3.07 hectares of land and the construction of 1,150 meters of revetment and a 75-meter groyne, has recently expanded. An additional 5 hectares of land was reclaimed as a variation to the original plan.

The project is aimed at enhancing the coastal protection and stability of R. Ungoofaaru, ensuring the preservation of land and providing long-term protection against erosion. As work progresses, the project is set to deliver vital infrastructure to the island, further strengthening its resilience to environmental challenges.
