According to sources, Naresh was attacked while he was in Maamendhoo to garner support for the PNC candidate contesting from Kolamafushi constituency in the parliamentary elections.

Speaking to Gaafu, a police official said that a case was registered at around 17:00 p.m. today regarding the Attack on Male' City Deputy Mayor Ahmed Naresh in Maamendhoo.

No arrests have been made so far in the case and the police are investigating the matter, a senior police officer said.
