Kuda Huraa made a winning start to the Resort League 2026 North Malé Zone, defeating Taj Coral 4-2 in the opening match of the tournament hosted by Bandos Maldives.
Kuda Huraa started strongly and took the lead in the 10th minute through Mohamed Sameeh Hassan Fayaaz. Ismail Zaidhy doubled their advantage in the 19th minute, sending Kuda Huraa into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Taj Coral came out with renewed energy after the break and reduced the deficit in the 24th minute when Kuda Huraa’s Mohamed Sameeh Hassan Fayaaz scored an own goal.
Kuda Huraa quickly restored their two-goal advantage, with Ibrahim Ramzee scoring their third goal just three minutes later.
Taj Coral continued to fight and Mihaad Mohamed pulled another goal back in the 32nd minute of the second half to make it 3-2.
However, Kuda Huraa responded immediately. Mohamed Sameeh Hassan Fayaaz completed his impressive individual performance by scoring his second goal of the match the following minute, sealing a 4-2 victory for Kuda Huraa.
Mohamed Sameeh Hassan Fayaaz was rewarded for his outstanding performance by being named Man of the Match.
The Resort League 2026 North Malé Zone is scheduled to run from 11 to 28 September 2026, with Bandos Maldives serving as the host.
A total of 15 teams are competing across four groups. The winners of Groups A, B and C, along with the top two teams from each of those groups, will progress according to the tournament format, while the second- and third-placed teams from Group D will contest a playoff for the remaining quarter-final spot.
Kuda Huraa’s opening victory gives them an early boost as they look to make a strong run in the North Malé Zone.
