Real Madrid vs Schalke
Real Madrid have finished their pre-season campaign on a high note, beating Schalke 3–0 at the Veltins-Arena in their final warm-up match before the new LaLiga season.
Kylian Mbappé made an immediate impact on his return to action, opening the scoring in the sixth minute. The French forward capitalised on a defensive mistake before calmly finishing to give Madrid an early advantage.
Real Madrid doubled their lead in the 20th minute, with Dean Huijsen rising to score a superb header from a corner delivered by Arda Güler.
Madrid went into half-time with a comfortable 2–0 lead.
Head coach José Mourinho made four changes at the start of the second half, giving several players valuable minutes. The changes did little to reduce Madrid's control, and Carlos Espí added the third goal in the 57th minute with a header following a dangerous attack down the left.
The victory gave Madrid a convincing finish to their summer preparations and positive momentum ahead of their competitive campaign.
LaLiga opener
Real Madrid will now turn their attention to the start of the 2026–27 LaLiga season, with their opening fixture coming away against Espanyol on 23 August.
After ending pre-season with a clean sheet and three goals, Madrid will hope to carry that momentum into their first league match of the campaign.
