Kimi Antonelli continued his strong weekend in Madrid by topping final practice for the Spanish Grand Prix, finishing ahead of Charles Leclerc and Oscar Piastri in a session that was twice interrupted by red flags following crashes for Lewis Hamilton and Ollie Bearman.

The Mercedes driver set the pace as teams made their final preparations for qualifying at the new Madring circuit. Leclerc finished second, while Piastri completed the top three.

The session was interrupted twice after crashes. Hamilton brought out the first red flag after an incident that ended his running, while Bearman caused the second stoppage after crashing his car. Both incidents added to the growing list of drivers finding the limits around Madrid’s challenging new circuit.

Antonelli has now topped both FP2 and FP3, giving the championship leader plenty of confidence heading into qualifying. The Italian arrives in Madrid on the back of his sensational home victory at Monza, where he charged from 19th on the grid to take the win.

With the gaps at the front expected to be extremely tight, qualifying could provide another major battle between Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren.

All eyes now turn to qualifying, with Antonelli looking to complete a perfect Saturday and put himself in the best possible position for another victory.
