The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has also asserted that Iran maintains firm control over the Strait of Hormuz. The force accused US leaders of making false claims about shipping through the strategic waterway in an effort to influence global energy prices.
The White House, meanwhile, told Al Jazeera that the US naval blockade remains fully active. Washington said the Strait of Hormuz is open and has been cleared of mines, while reiterating that the United States is not holding talks with Iran.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has called on the public to maintain unity and warned against actions that could undermine what he described as “social cohesion.”
He also urged officials to refrain from making discouraging statements, saying such comments could weaken national unity at a time of heightened tensions.
The conflicting statements come as the Strait of Hormuz remains at the centre of the confrontation. The waterway is one of the world’s most strategically important energy routes, with disruptions potentially affecting global oil and gas supplies.
Iran’s position indicates that Tehran intends to combine diplomatic efforts with its military posture, while Washington continues to maintain pressure through its naval presence and blockade.
