Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam has departed for an official visit to India at the invitation of India’s Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit marks Minister Iruthisham’s first official overseas visit since assuming office as Foreign Minister of the Maldives.

During the visit to New Delhi, Minister Iruthisham is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with her Indian counterpart, Dr. Jaishankar. The discussions are expected to focus on existing bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the Maldives and India, as well as key issues of mutual interest.

The Foreign Minister is accompanied by Additional Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Zuhuree and Assistant Director Aminath Guraisha.
