Vice President Uz. Hussain Mohamed Latheef departed for Doha, Qatar, on Monday evening, on an official visit to attend the ‘Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD2)’.

The Summit, convened under the auspices of the United Nations General Assembly, aims to bring together global leaders for high-level discussions on advancing social development, eradicating poverty, promoting full and productive employment, and ensuring social inclusion in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

WSSD2 will take place from November 4th to 6th, 2025, in Doha. The first World Summit for Social Development was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1995.

During his visit, Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef will attend the opening ceremony and deliver a statement at the plenary meetings, representing the Maldives at this significant global platform.
