Credentials Presented: Ambassador Mahloof Officially Begins Mission in Japan

The newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to Japan, His Excellency Ahmed Mahloof, has officially presented his Letters of Credence to His Majesty Emperor Naruhito. The formal ceremony took place this morning at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, where Ambassador Mahloof was accredited as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Maldives to Japan.
Following the formal presentation of credentials, Emperor Naruhito welcomed Ambassador Mahloof, extending his congratulations on the diplomatic appointment and wishing him success in the execution of his bilateral duties. In response, Ambassador Mahloof expressed his profound gratitude to the Emperor. He conveyed warm greetings and best wishes on behalf of Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, as well as the citizens of the Maldives. The Ambassador reiterated his firm commitment to further enhancing the longstanding bilateral relations, mutual respect, and close cooperation that define the connection between the two nations.
The formal diplomatic relationship between the Maldives and Japan was first established on November 14, 1967. This milestone presentation comes at a significant time, as next year will officially mark the historic 60th anniversary of formal diplomatic relations between Malé and Tokyo. Ambassador Mahloof was accompanied to the high-profile Imperial Palace ceremony by a delegation from the Maldivian Embassy in Tokyo, including Deputy Ambassador Ahmed Adil, alongside Second Secretaries Hawwa Samha, Aminath Raziyya, and Ashraf Ali.
