MALE, Maldives – The Chief Government Spokesperson at the President's Office, Mohamed Hussain Shareef, has launched a new weekly press engagement initiative titled "Presser with the Spox."
The inaugural session took place on Thursday, during which the Spokesperson announced his intention to meet with journalists every week whenever he is in the capital, Malé. He explained that the briefings are designed to deliver consistent updates on government activities and to provide direct responses to media inquiries.
"Whether you require the government's official stance, specific data, statistical figures, or a recorded comment from me for the reports you are preparing, I expect these gatherings to assist in your work," Shareef stated.
Each session is anticipated to last around 55 minutes. The Spokesperson noted that he would strive to respond to as many questions as possible within that timeframe, adding that supplementary information would be supplied as needed.
To enhance public access to government information, Shareef also highlighted that both audio and video recordings of the briefings, along with progress reports on government projects, would be disseminated via social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. For this purpose, official accounts have been launched under the handle "thefeed.mv."
