The Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has unveiled a new Strategic Action Plan, a revamped MCS portal, and a centralized Prisoner Data Management System to modernize and strengthen its operations. The initiatives were inaugurated on Thursday by Homeland Minister Ali Ihusaan.
The Corrections Strategic Action Plan, developed with European Union funding and technical support from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), aims to enhance institutional management, improve inmate reintegration, and build the skills and capabilities of officers and staff.
The centralized Prisoner Data Management System consolidates all prisoner and detainee records into a single platform, digitizing medical and personal files to reduce administrative workload and enable faster information sharing with agencies such as the courts, Prosecutor General’s Office, and Maldives Police Service.
Meanwhile, the new MyMCS portal modernizes the previous eService system, allowing the public to request criminal record clarifications, book meetings with inmates, apply for jobs, and send money to prisoners through eFaas login.
Speaking at the launch, Commissioner of Prisons Hassan Zareer highlighted that the projects reflect historic reforms for MCS, improving public services and providing a clear roadmap for institutional development. He expressed gratitude to the EU and UNODC for their support.
