BML Honored by Mastercard for Championing Maldives’ Digital Transformation

Bank of Maldives (BML) has been recognized by Mastercard for its pivotal role in uplifting the Maldives’ digital economy through the Digital Country Partnership.

The award was presented to BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef by Mastercard’s Country Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives, Sandun Hapugoda, at the Digital Finance Leadership event in Singapore.

Signed in August 2025, the partnership between the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology, BML, and Mastercard underscores BML’s commitment to advancing digital innovation and infrastructure across the Maldives.

Since becoming a Principal Member of Mastercard in 2002, BML has collaborated on several landmark projects, including enabling Raajje Transport Link (RTL) payments under smart city initiatives.

This latest recognition highlights BML’s leadership in driving technological progress through strategic partnerships, innovative digital solutions, and a strong vision for the nation’s economic growth.
