International Airport (VIA), marking another milestone in expanding international connectivity to the Maldives.
A special ceremony was held today to commemorate the occasion, attended by Bank of Maldives Managing Director and CEO Mohamed Shareef, Villa Travels Station Manager Mohamed Fayaz, and senior officials from Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
During the event, Sichuan Airlines’ check-in counters were formally inaugurated, and passengers arriving on the airline’s inaugural flight, 3U3923, were greeted with a traditional Maldivian cultural performance, showcasing the nation’s warm hospitality.
With Sichuan Airlines joining the growing list of carriers, the number of airlines now operating from Terminal 1 continues to increase. The new terminal—the largest development project in VIA’s history—is designed to enhance passenger experience, improve operational efficiency, and uphold the highest standards of service for airlines flying to the Maldives.
