Two expatriates arrested in connection with a street brawl in Malé City on Sunday have been handed over to the Maldives Immigration for deportation, police have confirmed.
According to the Maldives Police Service, the incident occurred at around 19:11 on Asuruma Goalhi, Malé City, involving two foreign men engaged in a physical altercation. Both were taken into custody following the fight.
Police stated that one of the individuals sustained injuries and was treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) before being released.
The case remains under investigation.
A video circulating on social media shows the two men attacking each other as bystanders attempt to intervene. The footage captures one individual striking the other on the head with an object, resulting in visible bleeding before others step in to stop the fight.
Clashes between expatriates have been a recurring issue in the Maldives, with several past incidents leading to serious and, in some cases, fatal injuries.
