Foreign Minister Khaleel Meets Outgoing Cuban Ambassador Andrés

The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Maldives, Andrés Marcelo González Garrido, paid a farewell call on Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, both sides reflected on the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and Cuba. Minister Dr Khaleel expressed the Maldivian Government’s deep appreciation for Ambassador González Garrido’s efforts in strengthening bilateral relations throughout his tenure. He also extended gratitude for the continued contributions of Cuban medical professionals serving in island communities across the Maldives.

Ambassador González Garrido thanked the Government and people of the Maldives for the warm hospitality extended to him and voiced confidence that the close ties between the two nations will continue to flourish in the years ahead.

Minister Dr Khaleel conveyed his best wishes to the outgoing Ambassador in his future endeavours and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to maintaining strong cooperation with the Republic of Cuba, including support for the incoming ambassador.

Minister Dr Khaleel was accompanied at the meeting by Secretary Dr Hala Hameed, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mohamed Shahyb, Senior Under Secretary Hassan Hussain Shihab, and Assistant Director Aminath Warudha.
