MACL Confirms Completion of VIA New Passenger Terminal Ahead of July 26 Opening

The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has confirmed the full completion of Velana International Airport’s New Passenger Terminal, fulfilling President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s major commitment ahead of the official opening on July 26, 2025.

Deputy Managing Director Mohammed Lamaan stated:

Lamaan highlighted that full-scale operational trials are underway to ensure readiness, including:

  1. Comprehensive testing of all terminal systems and procedures
  2. Integration and validation of technology infrastructure
  3. Final training and certification of operational personnel
  4. Fire safety and emergency response drills

Acknowledging the team’s efforts, Lamaan praised MACL staff for their professionalism and dedication in preparing the terminal for its debut.

The new terminal marks a major milestone in upgrading Maldives' aviation infrastructure, promising world-class passenger services and operational excellence from day one.
