Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has officially commenced direct flights from Baku to Malé, marking an important new route for travelers from Azerbaijan to the Maldives. The first flight touched down at Velana International Airport on November 9, where passengers and crew were greeted with traditional Maldivian hospitality.
"We are pleased to launch direct regular flights from Baku to Malé," said Jamil Manizade, Chief Commercial Officer of AZAL. "This service opens new opportunities for tourists seeking a paradise holiday experience, offering a winter tourism option for Azerbaijani travelers, with the Maldives being a top global destination."
The new route is seen as a key milestone for both the Maldives’ tourism industry and Velana International Airport. "This route provides an invaluable connection between Central Asia and the Maldives, expanding travel options for Azerbaijani tourists eager to explore our beautiful islands," commented Mohamed Mihad, Chief Commercial Officer of Maldives Airports Company Limited.
Regular flights between Baku and Malé are scheduled twice a week, on Mondays and Saturdays. Tickets are available on AZAL’s official website, through the airline's mobile app, or at AZAL ticket offices and accredited agencies.
