The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has announced that Thursday, 28 May will be observed as a special banking day during the upcoming Eid al-Adha holidays.
Although government offices will remain closed from 24 to 30 May, banks across the country will reopen on the 28th and operate from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm.
However, the MMA clarified that currency issuance and cash distribution services will not be available on that day. Banks have therefore been advised to arrange sufficient cash supplies during regular working days ahead of the holiday period.
According to the official calendar, Arafat Day falls on Tuesday, 26 May, while Eid al-Adha will be celebrated on Wednesday, 27 May.
