The Maldives Zakat Fund has announced the opening of applications for its Higher Education Assistance Policy, offering scholarship opportunities for both local and international studies.
A total of 40 scholarship opportunities are available, including 10 slots for studies within the Maldives and 20 for overseas programmes. In addition, five specialised scholarships are offered for female doctors to pursue Obstetrics and Gynaecology training in SAARC countries, along with five stipend assistance opportunities for students studying in Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
Local scholarships are available for Master’s (Level 9) and PhD (Level 10) programmes at institutions such as the Maldives National University, Islamic University of Maldives, Villa College, Avid College, and Zikura College, covering a wide range of Islamic and related disciplines.
Overseas opportunities include fields such as Islamic Banking and Finance, Halal Industry Management, Political Science, Psychology, Arabic Studies, and Islamic Governance, with placements at institutions including the International Islamic University Malaysia, INCEIF, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, and the International Islamic University Islamabad.
Applicants may also propose alternative programmes outside the listed fields, subject to approval and relevance to the Maldivian Islamic community.
Eligible Maldivian citizens aged 18 and above who meet academic and financial requirements can apply, provided they are not already receiving other government scholarships or loans. The deadline for applications is 14 July 2026 at 2:00 pm, and submissions must be sent to [email protected].
