The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has begun a major clean-up operation across Hulhumalé, targeting the removal of chairs, tables, and large trees obstructing walkways and drainage systems as part of its “Hihfaseyha Hulhumalé” campaign.

Launched on 25 October 2025, the initiative seeks to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility by clearing furniture placed along public streets and tackling flooding and tarmac damage caused by large trees affecting the island’s drainage network.

HDC announced that the clean-up activities will be carried out across 12 designated zones in close collaboration with the Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) and the Hulhumalé Police.

The Corporation further revealed that additional activities are scheduled in the coming months under the Hihfaseyha Hulhumalé campaign, focusing on enhancing urban safety, environmental management, and the overall quality of public spaces throughout the city.
