The Elections Commission (EC) has announced that nominations are now open for positions on the newly established Maldives Media and Broadcasting Commission (MMBC), following the recent enactment of the commission.

Applications will be accepted until 14:00 on October 4, with four positions available: two seats for broadcasters and two for media representatives.

Interested candidates must submit their forms and supporting documents to the EC office on the 5th Floor of the Ports Complex, Hilaalee Magu, Malé City. Submissions are open daily from 09:00 to 14:00, except on Fridays when applications will be accepted between 15:00 and 17:00.

The EC will notify applicants of updates through the email address provided in their forms.

The MMBC election is scheduled for Saturday, October 11, from 09:00 to 16:00.

According to the gazetted regulations, each registered media outlet in the Maldives is entitled to one vote in the election. Applicants are guaranteed a 10-day application window, with eligibility to be confirmed within two days of submission. The election must then take place at least two days after the public announcement of eligible candidates.
