Maldives National University (MNU) has signed two significant agreements with The Hotel School Australia–Southern Cross University and Selangor Islamic University of Malaysia, aimed at advancing tourism development and academic research.

The agreements were finalized on Tuesday and are expected to foster greater collaboration in the fields of tourism education, joint research initiatives, and student exchange programs.

Partnership with The Hotel School Australia–Southern Cross University

The partnership with The Hotel School Australia–Southern Cross University will focus on enhancing tourism education in the Maldives, providing opportunities for both academic staff and students. This collaboration will promote the exchange of knowledge and expertise in tourism management, benefiting the Maldivian tourism sector and preparing future leaders in the industry.

Joint Research and Student Exchange with Selangor Islamic University

In a separate agreement, MNU has partnered with Selangor Islamic University in Malaysia. The agreement aims to facilitate joint research efforts on tourism-related topics and create opportunities for student exchange programs. This collaboration is set to broaden the academic and cultural exchange between the two countries, enriching students' experiences and promoting international cooperation.

Signing of the Agreements

The agreements were signed by Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam, Vice Chancellor of MNU, on behalf of the university. On the other hand, the signatories included Nicholas Hyde, Executive General Manager of The Hotel School Australia, and Dr. Mohamed Farid Ravi bin Abdulla, Vice Chancellor of Selangor Islamic University, both representing their respective institutions.

These collaborations underscore MNU's commitment to advancing higher education in the Maldives, particularly in the tourism and hospitality sectors, and enhancing its global academic standing.
