The Maldives Police Service has seized the mobile phones of all persons of interest linked to the case of Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed, the 21-year-old woman who was found fallen onto the roof of a warehouse from H. Fentoniya in Malé City during the early hours of April 18, 2025.

According to police, the phones of nine individuals have been collected as part of the ongoing investigation.

The identities of eight people who were with Yumnu that night were publicly revealed during a press conference held on April 24, 2025. They are:

• Aishath Layaaly Iqbal (22)
• Izdhiyaan Mohamed Maumoon (28)
• Yoosuf Ahmed Akram (22)
• Yoosuf Yassar Abdul Ghafoor (28)
• Aminath Junaidha Jamsheed (24)
• Hussain Hamees Ali (28)
• Ijaz Jaiz (24)

Police Commissioner Ali Shujau also announced that a travel ban had been issued against these individuals.

According to investigators, before arriving at Fentoniya, Raudh and Yumnu, along with others, had gathered at Maandhooge Dhekunuge, then later at Kashivelige. From there, only Raudh and Yumnu proceeded to Fentoniya, where the incident occurred.

As the investigation continues, nightly protests have erupted across Malé, with demonstrators demanding justice for Yumnu and a transparent, fair investigation.

During Friday night's protests, participants also called for the resignation of Police Commissioner Ali Shujau, Homeland Security Minister Ali Ihsan, and Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen, citing the involvement of Minister Ameen's relatives in the case. Notably, one of the houses visited by Yumnu and the persons of interest prior to the incident is co-owned by Minister Ameen.

Meanwhile, Raudh Ahmed Zilal was arrested on Friday, one week after the incident, and has been placed under remand for five days.
