KCFC26: Defending Champions SPSC Seal Last-Four Spot in Style

Defending champions SP Sports Club (SPSC) booked their place in the semi-finals of the Kaashidhoo Council Football Challenge 2026 with a commanding 6-0 victory over Team Namaves in the final Group A match.

The win saw SPSC finish second in Group A with three points from two matches, behind group winners MG Football Team (MGFT), who collected six points from two games. Namaves, meanwhile, ended their campaign at the bottom of the standings after suffering two heavy defeats.

SPSC entered the match needing a victory after opening their title defence with a narrow 3-2 defeat to MGFT. Namaves were also looking to bounce back after their 8-0 loss to MGFT in their first outing.

Despite the final scoreline, the opening half was a closely contested affair, with Namaves defending well for much of the period. However, SPSC finally broke the deadlock in first-half 36th minute Shamaal found the net to give the defending champions a 1-0 lead at the break.

The second half belonged entirely to SPSC as they produced a ruthless attacking display. Abaan Mohamed doubled the lead in the 48th minute before adding his second goal in the 61st minute. Ahmed Majeed also got on the scoresheet in the 54th minute, while Jailam Jameel made it five in the 70th minute. Ahmed Ikraam completed the scoring in three minute later to seal an emphatic 6-0 victory.

The result confirms MG Football Team as Group A winners, while SPSC progress to the semi-finals as the group runners-up. Namaves bow out of the competition after two matches without a point.

SPSC will now turn their attention to the knockout stage, hoping to continue their title defence after producing a convincing response in their final group match.
