MINNESOTA: North Memorial Health has introduced disposable, hygienic hijabs for Muslim patients and healthcare workers, offering a faith-friendly alternative to traditional surgical caps.

The sterile hijabs were developed by Mawadda, a Minnesota startup founded by two Muslim respiratory therapists who experienced firsthand the challenge of balancing infection-control requirements with Islamic modesty.

Hospital leaders say the initiative will help Muslim patients and staff receive and provide healthcare while maintaining their religious practices. The move reflects growing efforts within the healthcare sector to create more inclusive environments that respect patients' and healthcare workers' diverse faiths and cultural needs.
