Resort league: Thahuseen Fires Vakkaru into Baa Zone Final

Vakkaru secured their place in the Resort League Baa Zone final after defeating Anantara 2-1 in an entertaining second semi-final held at AVANI+ Fares Maldives Resort.

After a tightly contested first half ended goalless, Vakkaru broke the deadlock in the 31st minute of the second half through Mohamed Thahuseen, who calmly finished to give his side the lead.

Just seven minutes later, Thahuseen struck again, doubling Vakkaru's advantage with his second goal of the match and putting his team firmly in control.

Anantara, who qualified for the semi-finals as Group B winners with seven points from three group-stage matches, pulled one back in the final minute of the match through Ahmed Sajid, but it was too late to deny Vakkaru a memorable victory.

Vakkaru had reached the semi-finals as Group A runners-up, collecting five points from three group-stage matches, and their determined performance earned them a place in the championship match.

For his match-winning brace, Mohamed Thahuseen was deservedly named Player of the Match.

Vakkaru will now face Finolhu in the Resort League Baa Zone Final, scheduled for 5 July 2026 at 16:00, with this year's tournament being hosted at AVANI+ Fares Maldives Resort.
