Maldivian masters athlete Nafiza Ahmed, popularly known as Nafy, has once again brought pride to the Maldives with an impressive medal haul at the 38th Malaysian International Masters Athletics Championship.

Competing in the women's 55-59 age group, Nafy secured a total of five medals, winning silver medals in the 400m and 1500m events, while claiming bronze medals in the 200m, 2000m and 4x400m relay events.

Nafy's latest success adds another remarkable chapter to her growing legacy in masters athletics. She made history in 2025 by becoming the first Maldivian woman athlete to win a gold medal in an international masters athletics competition, achieving the feat at the Sri Lankan National Masters Athletics Championship. She continued her outstanding performances at the same championship in 2026, further establishing herself as one of the pioneers of Maldivian women's masters athletics.

Over the past two years, Nafy has consistently represented the Maldives on the international stage, inspiring athletes of all ages through her dedication, perseverance and passion for athletics.

Her achievements in Malaysia further strengthen the growing reputation of Maldivian masters athletes and serve as an inspiration for more women to participate in athletics beyond their competitive prime years.

With another successful international campaign completed, Nafy continues to prove that age is no barrier to excellence and remains one of the leading figures in Maldivian masters athletics.
