Shamha Wins Five Medals for Maldives in Malaysia

Maldivian masters athletics star Fathimath Shamha produced an outstanding performance at the 38th Malaysian International Masters Athletics Championship 2026, winning five medals in the Women's 45-49 age group and proudly representing the Maldives on the international stage.

Competing against some of the region's top masters athletes, Shamha claimed gold medals in the 1500 metres and 2000 metres events, demonstrating her strength and endurance in middle-distance running. She also played a vital role in the Maldives' Medley Relay team, helping secure a third gold medal for the nation.

Adding to her impressive medal haul, Shamha earned bronze medals in the 800 metres and the 4x400 metres relay, finishing the championship with a total of five medals — three gold and two bronze.

Her achievements were among the highlights for the Maldivian contingent at the championship, showcasing the growing standard of masters athletics in the country. Shamha's success is a testament to her dedication, hard work and commitment to the sport.
