Former Maldivian Democratic Party Chairman Fayyaz Ismail has called on the Maldives’ former presidents to work together against the government.
In a post shared on X today, Fayyaz alleged that President Mohamed Muizzu has taken control of state institutions and violated his oath of office.
Fayyaz said political differences should now be set aside and urged the public to protest against the government across the country.
He specifically called on former presidents Mohamed Nasheed, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, and Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom to come together to “save the country.”
He also appealed for independent institutions and what he described as fair judges to work towards the immediate release of jailed journalists.
