2nd Masters Athletics Championship Maldives 2026 Open for Registration

Malé, Maldives— Registration has officially opened for the "2nd Masters Athletics Championship Maldives 2026", set to take place from 7th to 9th May 2026 at the Kulhivaru Ekuveni Running Track in Malé City.

The championship is open to both local and international athletes, continuing Maldives’ growing involvement in the global masters athletics movement. Competitions will be held across multiple age categories, ensuring fair and competitive participation for veteran athletes.

Age Categories

The event will feature the following age groups for both men and women: 35–39,40–44,45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69 and 70+

Events

Athletes will compete in a wide range of track and field events, including: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, Shot Put, Discus Throw, Javelin Throw, High Jump and Long Jump

This will be the second edition of the Masters Athletics Championship in the Maldives. The inaugural event held in 2025 was a major success, attracting over 100 athletes, with 11 teams from five different countries taking part.

The competition is organised by Masters Athletics Maldives, which has been actively working to promote athletics among veteran athletes in the country.

Speaking to Gaafu Sports, Ali Raeef, President of Masters Athletics Maldives, said that next year’s championship will be "higher in quality in terms of organisation and competitiveness.” He also added that the Maldives is ready to welcome everyone interested in masters athletics, highlighting the country’s commitment to inclusivity and sporting excellence.
