Maldives Masters Team Reaches 25-Medal Mark After Day Two of Malaysian International Masters Athletics Championship

The Maldives Masters Athletics Team continued its impressive performance at the 38th Malaysian International Masters Athletics Championship 2026, increasing its medal tally to 25 medals after the second day of competition.

The championship, which began on 5 June and runs until 7 June 2026, has brought together masters athletes from across the region. After winning 12 medals on the opening day, the Maldivian contingent added another 13 medals on day two to reach an overall total of 25 medals.

At the end of the second day, Maldives has collected an impressive haul of 8 gold, 10 silver and 7 bronze medals.

Husna Mohamed Leads the Way

Husna Mohamed (Husy) produced one of the standout performances of the championship in the women's 45-49 age group, winning gold medals in both the 200m and 400m events. She also claimed silver medals in the 100m and 800m races.

Strong Middle-Distance Success

Mohamed Rasheed (Mode) secured gold in the men's 35-39 age group 1500m event while adding silver medals in the 800m and 400m races.

Ali Ahmed (Ayya) also enjoyed a successful championship in the men's 65-69 age group, winning gold in the 1500m and silver medals in both the 800m and 400m events.

Sprint and Field Event Medals

Ahmed Abdul Azeez (Kavin) captured gold in the men's 40-44 age group 200m event and added a silver medal in the 400m.

Fathimath Shamha won gold in the women's 45-49 age group 2000m race and bronze in the 800m event.

Hassan Shamoon delivered an outstanding performance in the men's 40-44 age group field events, winning gold in the javelin throw and bronze in the discus throw.

Maldivian Lagendery Sprinter Mohamed Amir claimed gold in the men's 55-59 age group 200m event.

More Podium Finishes for Maldives

Moomina Mohamed (Moon) won silver medals in the women's 60-64 age group 2000m and 200m events, while securing bronze in the 800m.

Nafiza Ahmed (Nafy) earned silver in the women's 55-59 age group 400m and bronze medals in both the 200m and 2000m events.

Hussain Ahmed added another medal for Maldives by winning bronze in the men's 40-44 age group long jump competition.

Ibrahim Farish secured bronze in the men's 35-39 age group 200m event.

With one day of competition remaining, the Maldives Masters Team will be looking to add to its growing medal tally and finish the championship on a high note.

The team's achievements so far highlight the continued growth and success of masters athletics in the Maldives, with athletes delivering outstanding performances against strong international competition.
