News
Ahmed Shurau

Bank of Maldives (BML) has launched WhatsApp as an official channel for One-Time Passwords (OTP), allowing customers to receive OTPs securely on their registered mobile numbers. This move enhances convenience while maintaining the security of digital transactions.

The new WhatsApp option complements existing channels, including SMS via registered mobile number, Authenticator, and Email, providing customers with greater flexibility when conducting transactions.

Commenting on the launch, BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef said, "We are committed to providing our customers with innovative and secure solutions, while catering to the growing demand of digital banking. By enabling WhatsApp as an OTP channel, we are making it easier for customers to access essential banking services safely and conveniently."

Customers can activate WhatsApp OTP by updating their preferences via the Internet Banking or Mobile Banking App. The process remains fully secure, requiring the use of an existing OTP channel to enable WhatsApp delivery.
