President Dr Muizzu Declares 2026 the Year of Governance and Corruption-Free Maldives

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that 2026 will be dedicated to strengthening governance and building a corruption-free system in the Maldives.
Speaking at the official Republic Day ceremony at the Maldives Centre for Social Education, the President emphasised that the Maldives 2.0 initiative will play a central role in achieving these goals. The fully digitalised system aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public service delivery, and the programme is scheduled for completion by mid-2028.
Highlighting integrity as the foundation of effective governance, President Muizzu identified corruption as the main obstacle to fairness and equity in public service. He stressed that digitalisation offers the most effective solution and called for active youth engagement and cooperation to implement and sustain these reforms.
Reiterating his Administration’s commitment, the President affirmed that strengthening governance through transparency and accountability remains a top national priority. He described Maldives 2.0 as one of the most ambitious undertakings in the country’s governance reform.
Concluding his address, President Muizzu urged collective effort towards shared national goals and expressed gratitude to civil servants and award recipients for their dedication in advancing the Maldives’ development and honouring the nation.
