Identities of Suspects in Airport Heist Revealed

Police have revealed the identities of the four suspects arrested in connection with the theft of USD 130,000 from two Bank of Maldives (BML) employees at Velana International Airport early Monday morning.
According to Police, the suspects were remanded in custody for five days, and their remand periods have since been extended.
The four individuals are:
- Maazin Moosa, 25, Reysham, L. Maavah
- Ahmed Raihan Naeem, 20, M. Chorus, Malé
- Ibrahim Anoof, 24, Alhivilaage, K. Guraidhoo
- Hussain Shahudh, 30, Alhivilaage, K. Guraidhoo
The suspects allegedly concealed their faces and threatened two BML staff members with knives before fleeing with a suitcase filled with cash. The robbery occurred in the walkway between the old terminal and the new Terminal 1 at around 4:45 a.m.
The stolen suitcase contained approximately USD 130,000 intended for issuance to local travellers at the new terminal’s dollar counter.
Police have since recovered the speedboat used in the getaway and arrested all four suspects within hours of the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
