Australia Donates Surveillance Drones to Strengthen Maldives Customs Operations

The Australian Government has donated surveillance drones to the Maldives Customs Service to enhance its border security and monitoring capabilities.
The official handover ceremony took place at the Customs headquarters, where Australian Ambassador to the Maldives David Jessup presented the drones — provided by the Australian Border Force — to Commissioner General of Customs Fathimath Dhiyana.
In her remarks, Commissioner General Dhiyana expressed sincere appreciation to the Australian Government and the Australian Border Force for their continued support, noting that the donation would significantly boost Customs’ border enforcement and port management operations.
The Maldives Customs Service stated that the new surveillance drones will play a vital role in improving maritime surveillance, monitoring vessel movements, and strengthening the nation’s overall border protection framework.
