Lando Norris powered to a commanding victory at the 2025 Mexico City Grand Prix, reclaiming the lead in the Formula 1 World Championship and delivering McLaren’s first win in Mexico since Ayrton Senna triumphed back in 1989.

Starting from the front row, Norris controlled the race from the opening laps, building a comfortable gap that he extended to over 30 seconds by the finish — the largest winning margin at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in more than a decade. His sixth win of the season pushed him one point ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri in the championship standings, setting up a thrilling final stretch in the title battle.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc finished second, continuing his strong form in Mexico with a third consecutive podium at the circuit. Max Verstappen, despite early pressure, had to settle for third as Red Bull struggled to match McLaren’s pace throughout the weekend.

The race also brought a standout performance from young Haas driver Oliver Bearman, who claimed an impressive fourth place equaling the team’s best ever finish in Formula 1. Piastri, meanwhile, came home fifth, losing his championship lead after 15 rounds at the top.

With just four races remaining, the fight for the title has tightened dramatically. Norris now holds a slender advantage, while McLaren strengthened their grip on the Constructors’ standings as Ferrari moved ahead of Mercedes.

“We had a great start, stayed clean, and kept our focus everything just came together perfectly today,” Norris said after the race.

The next round promises high tension as the championship battle heads into its decisive phase, with Norris, Piastri, and Verstappen all still in contention for the 2025 crown.
