Maldives Meteorological Service Issues Weather Advisory as Southwest Monsoon Intensifies

The Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has issued a weather advisory update warning of strong winds, rough seas, and scattered rain across the country as the Southwest Monsoon continues to strengthen.
According to the advisory, the conditions are expected to persist from 17 to 20 October 2025, with strong average winds and gusty conditions, and rough seas becoming very rough during gusts. The forecast also warns of scattered rain and thundershowers, along with the possibility of wave surges during high tides.
MMS has urged the general public, particularly seafarers, to remain cautious and stay informed by following the latest forecasts and warnings issued by the service.
The advisory was issued at 14:00hrs on 16 October 2025 and remains in effect for three days.
