The Ministry of Tourism and Environment, in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and with support from the Global Environment Facility (GEF), has held the Validation Workshop for the preparatory phase of the Maldives iCOAST Project.

The iCOAST Project aims to transform the tourism sector by promoting nature-based, net-zero, resilient, and zero-waste practices, fostering a more sustainable and environmentally responsible tourism industry in the Maldives. As part of this phase, a baseline assessment was carried out across tourist resorts nationwide.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, State Minister Nashath Rasheed underscored President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s vision for a resilient and sustainable Maldives, stressing the importance of collaboration, innovation, and responsible tourism in achieving this national goal.
